Light Rays over Water

Light Rays over Water
Light Rays over Water

I tried Rhonda Dohna’s Light Rays”stamp over Eddie Reyes’ “Water” stamp.

They are on heavy watercolor paper (cardstock, really,) and I didn’t get the absorbency I expected. I also used an old, but unopened, pack of assorted Izink ink pads.

I still like the combination very much, and it suited the fireworks I was hearing in the distance while stamping last night (7-4-26.)

I’m excited at the possibilities of using these stamps with metallic paints, mica and embossing powders, and maybe even glitter glue!

Both stamps are available at PMartist Studios.

I really like my “stamp off” paper!

My last little order…

My last little order…
My last little order…

won’t be my last order! I love stencils and stamps from PMartist Studio.

This order contains the Gauze stencil I’ve been wanting for quite a while. I’m a big fan.

There are also 4 foam stamps. They are hard to see, so I’ve borrowed Mariah’s (M’s) photos:

Field Mouse, my favorite quote involves a mouse so I had to have it!
Bitty Border Style 2 Swirls
Mini Mesh
Water

This last stamp, “Water,” was designed by Eddie Reyes of EddieMakesArt.

All the other designs are “in house,” which usually means they were designed by Brad Rushing, Mariah’s husband. I really think Brad should credit himself like the other designers.

Each order also contains PMartist’s calling card, a sample of Patricia’s (P’s) fabulous gel prints, and a mini stencil. This one looks like a cluster of bubbles!

They are very generous at PMartist’s Studio!

No, it’s an acrylic paint gel print. The stencil/mask I used is Bramble Branches from PMartist Studio. It was supposed to be green branches on a red background.

The design is unrecognizable because I used too much paint. I tried to remove some of the red with a cotton swab, and it seems to have made matters worse.

It does bring back memories of a horror movie from my childhood. It was one of the first ones in color, and I think it was called, “Island of the Doomed.”

There was a large tree on a tropical island that would send out tendrils at night that would suck the blood out of people. In the end, when they chopped it down, it was a blood bath, not unlike my gel print! Maybe I should give it the axe!

Look! I found it! I was 11 years old. I can’t believe I remembered! I’ll have to watch it again!

Ah, Spit!

Ah, Spit!
Ah, Spit!

It started with a a paper like this:

It’s a gel print by Patricia Carmichael Cline of PMartist Studios. I won it in a drawing, along with a whole pack of papers and stencil pieces. I remember when Patricia printed it. She used acrylic paint and a comb-like tool to make the swirls. She pulled it with wet strength tissue. I liked the transparency of the tissue and got an idea.

I bought a glass cylinder vase and an electric candle from Dollar Tree. The Unicorn Spit was a previous clearance purchase from Michael’s. I used a foam brush and spread the Unicorn Spit on the back of the tissue. Unicorn Spit is a water-based gel stain. The color is Party Punk Pink and it is intense! The tissue dried like this:

The front:

I wrapped the tissue, pink side against the glass and folded edges in and under. I turned on and dropped in the candle:

I turned down the lights:

And let her dance!

Next, I’ll finish up by attaching the tissue to the glass with clear gel medium. I am pretty pumped about this!

Black Glue?

Black Glue?
Black Glue?

I have an idea for a project that would involve black glue. I thought you could buy an Elmer’s black glue at a craft store. They do have black Elmer’s, but it has glitter. I think it’s for making slime.

I found an article that said make your own black glue with regular white glue and black acrylic paint.

Now, one of the most useful things I’ve learned from Patricia and Mariah at pmartiststudio.com, is that acrylic paint is just a glue with pigment added.

So why not try an application of heavy bodied (thick) acrylic paint? I’m about to inventory my black acrylic paints. If none work as is, then I’ll add a little glue.

‘Just a little crafting, and a whole lot of sleeping, today. It’s Sunday, for one, and I’m always exhausted after relocating to Charlotte. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 1996, and that drive, along with packing and unpacking, uses all my spoons. Thats a story for another day.

Today, I did get to watch PMartist Studio’s Sunday morning live stream, at least until I fell back asleep.

https://youtube.com/@pmartiststudio

The masterminds of this channel, Patricia Carmichael Cline and Mariah Scott Rushing, are a mother and daughter duo. Patricia is a retired art teacher and Mariah is a graphic artist. They are multi-talented with specialties in mixed media and gel printing.

If you subscribe to their channel, you can participate in a live chat during their live streams. It is described as, “the best chat in town,” and I enjoy being a part of it. They stream live 4 times per week, and are certainly something to look forward to!

There’s much more to tell about their business, https://pmartiststudio.com/, and their Facebook group, Makers of Mixed Media Art/Artists.

That’s something to look forward to, too!

Glueless!

Glueless!
Glueless!

Not really, but I did spend the day cleaning and packing and driving back to Charlotte.

I was anxious to get back to seal and finish this big collage:

Gutsy

There’s a whole story behind this collage. It’s my entry for the January Collage Challenge at Makers of Mixed Media Art/Artists, a group sponsored by PMartists Studio. I’ll share more in the future.

My favorite sealant is Liquitex Satin Gel Medium. I have 2 containers and both are left at home. I’m off to the web to see if Michael’s has any in stock, or order more for here. 🙄

Finish #1: I drove us home from Charlotte. Finish #2 I sorted all the magazines and catalogs in the den. I was looking for Christmas issues and found this gem:

Some of the ideas in this issue were very dated, and it took me a while to find a date of publication. 2003. I still like this idea, though:

I just realized I had another finish. I got some ribbon yarn in the mail to Patricia Carmichael (PMartist Studio) to use in her current mixed media project. I wish I’d had enough sense to take a photograph!

#the100dayproject2024, #fixandfinish, Day 33. I’m a third of the way through!
