I hope. I pulled this with white and my new wet strength tissue:

Not good

So I’m trying to fix it by repainting the parts that pulled off white. If the blue pulled off, I’m leaving it alone.

When it’s dry, I’ll try pulling it again with the light blue paint and copy paper. It seems to work the best for me.

I’ll report.

Saving the Last of the Dogwoods

Saving the Last of the Dogwoods

The dogwoods in front of my house have been glorious!

Easter Sunset
Forgive me, I get carried away!

Now, the dogwoods are past their season. Surviving blossoms are pitiful.

I thought maybe I could use them to print on the gel plate. I used some blossoms to pull paint from the plate.

I used others like stamps, painting the bracts (petals,) and center.

The paint “celled” so badly, i kept adding paint till I produced this.

I’m anxious to pull this, but I can’t decide between light blue or a rich leafy green.

I also spent the better part of today dodging a telephone scam. Maybe that’s a craft, and I can find the energy to share that someday. For today, I’m exhausted.

Ah, Spit!

Ah, Spit!
Ah, Spit!

It started with a a paper like this:

It’s a gel print by Patricia Carmichael Cline of PMartist Studios. I won it in a drawing, along with a whole pack of papers and stencil pieces. I remember when Patricia printed it. She used acrylic paint and a comb-like tool to make the swirls. She pulled it with wet strength tissue. I liked the transparency of the tissue and got an idea.

I bought a glass cylinder vase and an electric candle from Dollar Tree. The Unicorn Spit was a previous clearance purchase from Michael’s. I used a foam brush and spread the Unicorn Spit on the back of the tissue. Unicorn Spit is a water-based gel stain. The color is Party Punk Pink and it is intense! The tissue dried like this:

The front:

I wrapped the tissue, pink side against the glass and folded edges in and under. I turned on and dropped in the candle:

I turned down the lights:

And let her dance!

Next, I’ll finish up by attaching the tissue to the glass with clear gel medium. I am pretty pumped about this!

Black Glue?

Black Glue?
Black Glue?

I have an idea for a project that would involve black glue. I thought you could buy an Elmer’s black glue at a craft store. They do have black Elmer’s, but it has glitter. I think it’s for making slime.

I found an article that said make your own black glue with regular white glue and black acrylic paint.

Now, one of the most useful things I’ve learned from Patricia and Mariah at pmartiststudio.com, is that acrylic paint is just a glue with pigment added.

So why not try an application of heavy bodied (thick) acrylic paint? I’m about to inventory my black acrylic paints. If none work as is, then I’ll add a little glue.
