A Busy Day

A Busy Day
A Busy Day

I attended a slow stitching class today, with my friend, Connie, at Tripp’s Mercantile. https://www.facebook.com/share/1ak3r4FAe1/?mibextid=wwXIfr

After class, Connie and I walked down to the local library to check out the new podcast studio. Interesting possibilities, there, and people, too!

Laura and I had a facetime create date in the afternoon. I stained a board for backing my collage that was due today at Makers of Mixed Media Art/Artists. https://www.facebook.com/share/g/18QHvnhTGp/?mibextid=wwXIfr

I didn’t trust the stain to be dry enough to seal and glue and glaze, so I went ahead and posted this photo.

The prompts were hometown, scales, beverage, graffiti and feather. See if you can find them.

I Went a Little Crazy

I Went a Little Crazy
I Went a Little Crazy

at Dollar Tree today.

In our little community, if you want craft supplies, you have three options:

1) Dollar Tree

2) Walmart

3) order online

Otherwise, you have to travel a minimum of 30 miles.

Dollar Tree won today because it involved the least amount of walking. They also had the main thing I was after. (I checked online. Their search engine is a nightmare, by the way.)

I’m working on a collage for a challenge that ends tomorrow. I am not happy with the substrate I chose, so I headed out to buy the 12×12” plywood unfinished signs, complete with hanger. I bought 3, because hey, there are monthly challenges. (Look in the back of the box of round ones, if you go.)

I found other options, too! There were 12×16” stapled canvases and bamboo cutting boards in two sizes!

I found a new glue gun and glue sticks. (Where do they hide?) I bought a glass candle plate for it to rest on.

As you can see, I found lots of products with craft uses. Maybe I’ll explain them all someday. In the meantime, happy crafting to you and me! -K❤️

Working on a garage addition, with AI

Working on a garage addition, with AI

We need more garage space. Our lot is generous, but not near the existing garage.

Existing garage

In the wee hours, I was playing with the idea of adding a garage with two bays, perpendicular to our current garage.

I photographed and flipped an image from an old house plan I had saved.

I printed and colored the flipped image with colored pencils.

After much discussion about available space, I uploaded my colored drawing into the Chatgpt ( AI-Artificial intelligence) App(lication.) It rendered this:

AI rendering

You can see it’s not exactly what I asked for. I was too tired to ask it to tweak it. I will in the future, and ask the chat (ro)bot to fit it to our existing garage. It’s amazing what it can do, but it also has drawbacks. I learned that every change I ask for, the program “rerenders” the whole composition. It’s both fun and frustrating to work with.

I just downloaded the app and set my user name. (karlakrafts, of course.)

I feel a new Pinterest/Etsy/You Tube obsession coming on. I used this pic for my profile:

It said choose one that shows who you are.😄

Here’s a code if you want to join, too. KARL9827

Here’s the Facebook post (and group) that sold me on joining:

You can buy handmade and open a store. I’m not there, yet. I’m just socializing for now. I was enrolled into the “Crafts” community, automatically, but there are lots of communities to explore. Knitting, Jewelry Making, and Gardening are just examples I remember.

Day 4, #the100dayproject2026/blogrevival

Glazing the Snowflakes!

Glazing the Snowflakes!
Glazing the Snowflakes!

I do more than diamond dots, but I bought these last year, finished the dots, this year, and need to glaze them before spring!

I wasn’t too sure I’d like diamond dots(z) when they first came out. I thought they looked plasticky and cheap.

But they got prettier. I ordered a cheapo set from Temu, just to see. It laid on the shelf under the tv for at least a year.

My best friend, Laura, came to visit, and I offered my kit to her. She had wanted to try it and was immediately hooked. She taught my granddaughter. They sat with their heads together working. I watched You Tube craft videos.

On another visit, Laura brought butterfly plant stakes for she and Vivi to work on. These dots weren’t plastiky. They were tiny round flat back crystals. Well, now!

It occurred to me that these dots, or drills as they are called, would be beautiful on Christmas ornaments! I searched on line. Bingo! I found 2-sided transparent Christmas ornaments and these snowflakes! I think they are dazzling!

So now I glaze, or seal them, to keep those little crystals in place. The sealant can be found online, too. Last year I used satin glaze medium, what I had on hand, to seal them, and it dulled the crystals and stayed tacky so long, I couldn’t give them as gifts.

I’ll share the Christmas ornaments the next time I work on them.

Here We Go Again!

I decided to join the 100 day project again. I posted this photo on Facebook.

Diamond dot tree of life

I posted it as day one of the 100 day project for 2026. I do not want to do diamond dots for 100 days. I do want to do something creative, so I decided “exercise creativity” would be my goal.

I love the quote by Maya Angelou,

“You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.”

Here’s the post from Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/share/17zPKQGDQV/?mibextid=wwXIfr

I wished I had posted this in my craft blog. That’s when it hit me. Resurrect my old blog! That’s my 100 day goal and here I am! #the100dayproject2026 Day 2
