Still Plays With Crayons!

Still Plays With Crayons!
Still Plays With Crayons!

I love this technique! You do two wax rubbings with two different colored crayons using two different stencils, on the same sheet of translucent paper! Then, you spray or stain the back of the paper with a third color!

I did these about two weeks ago.
I love crayons! Always have!

The four stencils I used are all from PMartist Studio. The crayons are from Amazon and Dollar Tree.

Today, I stained them each with Unicorn Spit.

Zia for this one:

Unicorn Spit is very intense but can be diluted with water.

Phoenix Fire for the other:

I used a sponge brush and a misting bottle to add water. The paper is cicada paper, a brown rice paper. (My joke is always “Is brown rice paper better for you than white rice paper?”)

After Spit

Unicorn Spit is so intense, especially the orange, that I might like the rubbings better without it.

Valentines with Vivi

Valentines with Vivi

We made valentines and valentine jewelry, tonight. We ate chicken noodle soup because Vivi wasn’t feeling well. She persevered to get her valentines ready for school tomorrow. No store-bought cards allowed.

Vivi said this was her first piece of “sophisticated“ jewelry. She usually puts some beads on a string and ties it. She learned about crimps and jump rings, and this was her design.
This was mine.

Document Discoveries!

Document Discoveries!

I was looking for something, I can’t remember what, in the documents library on my computer. Some files had names that made no sense at all. I decided to rename and organize files. I opened new folders and named them according to the type of files I have. I’m not talking about pdf’s and Word documents. I have patterns and ebooks and digital magazines. Then I started opening files to see what was inside. It was like Christmas!!!

One of my first finds was a series of “Art Lessons” I had downloaded from Interweave Press when they were on sale for $1.00. (Sometimes I use these things to reward myself for completing chores I dread.) Most were by mixed media artist, Jane Davenport. I am especially excited about the lesson on auditioning stencils:JaneD3image

It reminded me that Jane sells her stencils. Some are available at the Interweave Store.

I also found a wonderful tutorial on You Tube by Jane, herself!  Happy Day!

BTW, as for the organizing files, I’m almost through the A’s! LOL!
