This is Mountain Plains Fabrics and surrounding lovliness. I found red velvet for $6.50 a yard and some double pointed knitting needles I needed, among other things. They had buttons by the bucket, too!

Craft Book Junkie!

The Brushy Mtn. Apple Festival was Super!
and the weather was spectacular! I took these photos from the hilltop upon which the N. Wilkesboro Post Office sits:
The Brushy Mtn. Apple Festival is held annually the first Saturday in October in downtown N. Wilkesboro, NC. Yesterday was the 33rd Festival. I’ve not missed a one even when relatives got married (I went before or after, with my hair sprayed as hard as a brown football helmet! ) Here’s a link: http://www.applefestival.net/
There’re craft vendors, entertainment (bluegrass lovers rejoice,) and lots and lots of food! While I do love a good fried apple pie, the best thing I ate yesterday was a funnel cake smothered in cream cheese frosting and topped with strawberries!

A Confession
I love hand embroidery (except for satin stitch–aaargh!) However, I have purchased a used embroidery machine. It’s being dropped off tomorrow. I don’t have much invested in it, and it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles, it’s just to play with.

Snuggy Saque
Here’s something else I made for PJ before I knew if he was a girl or a boy. I’m thinking about making these to sell, or at least to give as gifts for winter babies. The outside is fleece, the inside is a shaggy, chenilley minky, and the sash is bridal satin. This one was tee-niny, so I think I’ll have to make them a little bigger.

Another Grand Discovery!
I was searching for Lily Sugar and Cream yarn to complete a project, and I remembered that Peaches & Creme yarns are made in America, somewhere in the South. I searched and sure enough, they are made in Old Fort, NC! (That’s near Asheville, if you’re not a local.)

Additionally, they make Honeysuckle and America’s Best yarns and crochet threads. They also have an outlet store in Old Fort. I’ll be shopping with them in the future! Support America!!!!
