I was cleaning out craft supplies today and found some old clip art for decoupage. I’ve been using my scanner and “Paint” to restore the images for future use. These look like they’d go nicely with my handkerchief corner.

Two Good Things!
I found the handkerchief in a package of 2 (the other one is white with yellow flowers,) in the dollar bin at CVS. I decided to embellish the printed corners with silk ribbon embroidery and use them in my crazy quilt projects.
The flowers are two-toned and I didn’t have any variegated ribbon that would work. What I did have was a set of dye markers from Dharma Trading. I used the pink one in this set to “over-dye” areas of my already solid pink silk ribbon. I am very pleased with the results!

A Red and Gold Audition
I’d like to make a book cover for a paperback novel. I drafted my pattern and put out these fabrics and trims to choose from.
Then, I removed the trims and any fabrics that didn’t seem to fit. (The gold paisley fabric at the bottom is from Evening Star Designs)
Next, I added back the trims that matched best. A search for charms and bobbles and I’m ready to cut and sew!

I Love this Fabric!
It came from Evening Star Designs in Raleigh, NC. They sell fabric and embellishments for crazy quilting. (They are also now carrying quality quilter’s cottons.) This is a patterned velvet. I used a scrap of it in Mama’s Bible cover. I photographed it so I can contact Evening Star and request more.

What a Wonderful Day!
I met my best buddy, Laura, in Fancy Gap, VA, today. We visited a deli, antique and garden store, and more importantly not one, but two fabric shops! I also got a few good snapshots.

Fancy Gap Pottery and Antiques has replaced their antique mall with a huge fabric outlet. Laura bought lots of yellow and blue quilter’s cotton to finish an Ohio star quilt. I bought lots of ribbon at 25 cents/spool!

This is Mountain Plains Fabrics and surrounding lovliness. I found red velvet for $6.50 a yard and some double pointed knitting needles I needed, among other things. They had buttons by the bucket, too!
