It Beats Dyeing Easter Eggs!
I decided to tackle a little organizing as my Saturday before Easter project. This is the right corner adjacent to my new desk in the bonus room over the garage. I’ve been calling it my craft space, but actually, much to my husband’s dismay, I have craft spaces all over our house. This one is going to be my jewelry making and scrapbooking space.
I found some shallow shelves at Michaels in Winston. The Park Road, Charlotte, store doesn’t have them. This is my husband’s torpedo level and my new favorite tool.
The container holders are Jetmax, and I found them at Tuesday Morning about a year ago. This is all very white. I will photograph it again when I get those shelves and containers filled. And, of course, that table won’t be bare for long!

A new desk for my craft space
I ordered this from the Container Store. There’s one in Charlotte, but I didn’t want to load it, lug it 90 miles, and unload it. I had it shipped. I did have to maneuver the top up the attic stairs to the bonus room. I was really proud of myself until I opened the carton and found damage. My stairs are thickly carpeted so I think this happened during shipping. It wasn’t too bad, and I surely wasn’t going to wrestle it back downstairs. Gravity would’ve helped, but still… I sealed it with some white glue the best I could and left it to dry.
I decided to tackle assembly on Friday. The online video was very helpful.
The first two legs were a piece of cake.
The second set was a drawer frame. It was a little bit harder, but I got to pound it together with a rubber mallet. This would’ve been a great afterschool activity when I was teaching!
I had to wait till yesterday for Kent to help me set it upright. It’s very heavy.
Ta Da! The stained glass was a gift I bought myself as an act of faith during a recent health scare. I have a weird tumor in the marrow of my right thigh. It’s benign (PTL!) so sure enough, I’ll get to enjoy looking at my little stained glass window a while longer!

Speaking of Old and Out-of-Style…
I am NOT giving in to Alfred Dunner! Why doesn’t anyone else design for women over 50? I’d like to have a style, but those tiered bohemian skirts I love make me look like a little handbell.
The book, “Wishcraft,” says to look at your house and in your closet to discover your personal style. I did, and apparantly my style is handmade, homemade and frumpy. Look at that vest I’m wearing in my profile picture! I’d go as far as to describe it as kitschy.
Why can’t I look cool and artsy? Here’s something I put on last week in a weak attempt to wear what I want just because I like it. I paired what I think is a slightly funky tee shirt with out-of-style, but beloved, 1928 earrings. Both had dusty purple and bling (but not Quacker Factory bling). I added dark jeans (old mama jeans, but still…) and my cute little Skechers shoes (instead of my orthopedic looking cross-trainers.) I carried a not too grandmotherly purple handbag and wore purple readers when I needed to look at something. It was a small step.
Oh well, “when I am an old lady, I shall wear purple,” (but NOT with a red hat!)

I Know, It’s Old and Out-of-Style…
but I like it, like it, yes I do! (Cue Billy Joel) There are lots of blog backgrounds out there now, but I still like this vintage brown one. It just suits me.
