Camellia Time in Charlotte!

Camellia Time in Charlotte!

This beauty is blooming outside the house where I babysit. I wonder how these blossoms would look printed on fabric and embellished? Or maybe appliqued on a green blender background?

Yellow beads or French knots? Martha Stewart recently aired instructions on making a “burned silk flower.” Hmmmmn? Coral silk? Gold or yellow Angelina film for the stamens?

PJ’s first birthday party is coming up! ‘Wish I could say I designed the invitation, but my daughter did it! She used an online website that I’ll have to find out about. I scanned it and opened it in “Paint” so I could cover up the personal information.

I’ve got to get his “Pooh” quilt finished!!!!! I’m also considering composing a “PJ Dictionary” so folks attending can understand all his precious first words! “Pooh Buh!” is Pooh Bear by the way!
He loves the Winnie the Pooh theme song and will always stop fussing if you sing it–a very useful tool, indeed!

AND DO NOT LET ME FORGET TO TRACE HIS LITTLE HAND! I’d like to do that every birthday, transfer them to fabric, and make a quilt someday.

Protopocket #4

My craft felt sheets measure 9×12″. I turned down 1,1/2″ on each end and ran decorative stitch #20 across 1″ from the outer edge. The stitch above is set at 5.5×1. Below, 5.5×2. I used decorative stitch #13 to seam the pocket 1/2″ on either side. To look right, stitch #13 should be done with a clear bobbin thread. I was too busy playing to change the bobbin.

The resulting pocket is probably larger than I can use for my big idea, but we’ll see…

I’ve been playing with an idea lately and found exactly what I need to execute it with these Craft Felts. I found them at Walmart and they are made entirely of recycled plastic bottles! As far as I can tell, they’re also manufactured in America. Hopefully, I will have something very useful made from them soon to share!

Time for Change

December 1st! ‘Time to retire the pumpkins and deck the halls! I know, some people are already fully Christmased, but our weather has been lousy. I may retire my scarecrow permanently, or just revive his nose with some orange craft paint. I do love recycling and that reminds me. I’ve thought of a way to recycle those old wooden country elements from the 80’s. Get em out of their boxes and glue ’em on to a tree. I also couldn’t quite wait for after Thanksgiving to put a tree by the door, so I stuck some artificial autumn leaves in amongst the branches. Now, all I have to do is go remove them, and I’ve got a country Christmas tree by the front door.
