I went a little nuts……. again!

I went a little nuts……. again!
In my own defense, I have said, for the past three years, that when Michaels reduces their Christmas ribbons to 70% off,  I’ll stock up.  And so, I did! I chose colors that didn’t look too “Christmasy” that I could use in crazy quilting. The dollar ribbon bin was also full of satin rattail in many colors!

Hancock Fabrics had a great sale on trim and other goodies, too. Now my “Ribbons, Laces and Trims” bin is nice and full!

Michaels was also the source of this ribbon trim I chose for Mama’s pillow. I’m so proud of myself. I didn’t have the needlework with me, but I had enough sense to take the trim over to the embroidery floss to see if it was a match. It wasn’t on sale, but I had a coupon. SCORE!!!!

Christmas ribbon is on sale at 60% off on Thursday. (They’re open from 5 pm-9pm!) I like to look through it and choose colors and patterns that don’t neccessarily look like Christmas. This is a stack of ribbons I bought for $1.00 a roll during the Veteran’s Day sale.

Wreath Restoration

Wreath Restoration

Here’s a craft I worked on over Christmas. My mom had made this grapevine and holly wreath for me several years ago. Because I hang it on a sunny side of the house, the ribbon and holly berries were terribly faded.

I really like this wreath, so I set out to restore it. I took all the plastic berries off, (the leaves were still in pretty good shape,) and sprayed them with red spray paint for plastic. It took several sprays from different angles to cover the round surfaces of the berries.

I covered the old faded ribbon with new red grosgrain, cut the old away, and replaced the berries. I am very pleased with the results!
